ABSTRACT
A Doença de Alzheimer (DA) é uma doença crônica degenerativa, comum em idosos, caracterizada por uma deterioração gradual da função intelectual. O presente estudo teve como objetivo verificar se o método Kabat, quando aplicado em pacientes com DA, proporciona melhora em sua qualidade de vida. Os resultados indicaram que aplicação do teste em pacientes com DA proporciona, além da funcionalidade e mobilidade, retardo na necessidade de um cuidador.
Alzheimers Disease (AD) is a chronic degenerative disease, common in the elderly, characterized by a gradual deterioration of the intellectual function. This study aimed to determine whether the Kabat method, when applied to patients with AD, improves their quality of life. This is a descriptive study and a literature review. Results indicated that the application of the test to patients with AD provides functionality and mobility; in addition, it delays the need of having someone to take care of the patient.
